Hello Yong, how about a handle and knob for the Release Reel SG? Not to keen on their molded T-Bar.

Hi. Benny. i did not know release reel has black color.
I checked these reels at true World tackle, seems very nice.

that looks very similar to torsa or talica single speed reel handles.

Can you measure hole size? Torsa is about 7mm.

I can make these handles.

Thanks for your reply Yong. I thought that also but the Torsa handle hole is slightly larger than the SG's. I measured the SG it is .233" or I guess 6mm?

thanks Benny.

I bought 1 handle from true world tackle this moring. Torsa handle won't fit, it's too big.

We will make handles for release reels.

Since it's a little reel, do you prefer much longer arm like 115mm? also, do you prefer T-Bar or Ball knobs?

I think our handles will make this little reel much better. let's see..

Hi. benny, I can ask factory to make these handles right away as I have the dimention, but "(slight raised ring around square hole)"
what does this do? to make that bump, it needs a lot more machine work.

Yong.
Great Yong! 115mm (4.5") I think its kinda long for that reel but up to 100mm or 4" for me would be great. I would prefer the handle in silver and a ball knob in red/silver. Not sure if there are any gold color Release Reels?

Benny
It seems to raise the handle slightly off the frame. Maybe one day I can pass by the shop with the reel and you can take exact measurements if needed?

I do have the original handle with me. so I can send this to factory. I am waiting for Okuma Cedros handles now so I can send them together.

If it's only rasing the handles from the frame, maybe we can use stainless steel washer.

Thanks. Benney. You are the first person going to have our release handles.

The boss (raised ring) around the square hole is necessary. The outboard bearing is slightly lower than the side case so with those two factors it creates a small void we pack with grease that helps keep saltwater off of the outboard bearing. I don't know if a washer would achieve the same thing because of the potential binding it could create on the outboard bearing. You could try using a washer the same size as the boss, but I can't promise that it will work. Also, we haven't tested the reel with a longer crank arm yet so the lifetime warranty will be void. But don't worry, if you break something on the reel, we have more than reasonable prices for repair.

Thanks. I heard so many good reviews about release reels. Our handles only going to make your release reel better. :)

We will make that boss too.

Does LG has same shaft hole as SG?

Thanks,

Yong.

Thank you Justin for your input it is very helpful. Yong it seems that the raised ring is necessary, so will the handle have the raised ring around the square hole, and not just the washer?

Benny
I just fished my SG for the first time today. I feel the offset handle is too close to the rod... it hits the back of my hand when holding the rod in my right hand. When I put it in freespool the handle will spin around till it hits my hand. It may be due to how Release puts the gear on the back of the reel instead of the bottom or front. Its not a major deal, just annoying. Besides that I love reel. So how about a straight arm instead of the offset?
how do you hold your rod that the handle hits your hand ?
We are planning on making a straight handle as an option soon.

The reason for the offset handle is to reduce torsion by bringing it closer to the reel, but in turn it can get in the way for some people. A straight handle fixes it.
