Goose hunting popular in Texas?
You mean mud wrestling, of course it is
Rice and corn fields gets leased year before
Very. Around houston, specs and a few snows that are left.
Out West and North, lots of Canadas.
If you are bored, some video from El Campo area to Lubbock to N. OK.
Goose/duck hunting VERY popular here in seasons past. last season the birds didn't show up until the last 4 days of the season. To my delight, because starting 11/1, at precisely 4am,
every fuggin' morning until after new year's, the bays erupt with airboats with open headers and 9billion lumen lights. I hate them. guides are completely discourteous to anglers and so disruptive. you can hear them coming 10 miles away.
Interesting on the escaped nilgai angle. I think the same is true
for Axis deer. I have seen 3 Axis carcasses on the roadside between AP and Aransas wildlife refuge in the past 3 years.
Curious, where do you live? POC/Rockport?
There are a lot of us who aren't fans (no put intended) of the airboat guides. Sorta the lowest level of guides, ie, put in the least amount of work and target the easiest species, redheads. Sorta like shark and jetty guides.
Rockport. they'll actually start ramping up this month (this morning apparently), setting up blinds, etc and that rolls right into teal in October.
I don't really hate airboats, per se. Iv'e seen guys that have relatively quiet ones, typically with FULL EXHAUST, including big mufflers. 95% less disruptive. cant hardly hear them unless youre behind the prop.
it's these "salt life" azzhats from up north with more dollars than sense and "look at me" disease. I mean top-fuel Zoomie style headers with fire comin out, headed 15 miles across the bay before dawn to go shoot 10 damn ducks. That's what I woke up to this morning. laying in my bed in the middle of town.....ugh!
Nevermind, rant over..
Ha, yea I get you. My buddy owns a house on Salt Lake and loves diver hunting, but his spread is all long lines and foam and/or wooden decoys. We usually launch from goose island in an el pescador with a shark wrap on the front sometimes loaded with a layout boat in his el pescador.
This is actually from down there a few weeks ago.
What do you guys do with the Canadian Geese ?
Up here the guys I know feed them to the pigs.
I will have to take some video after the field corn is harvested.
When they arrive, there are thousands of them.
Usually just make everything into sausage or jerky, but Canada's and specs are clean enough to eat as is.
Where are you located?
And that right there is why people pay stupid amounts to go hunting. Supply and demand.
I know that boat. see it up at goose a lot
Nice critter & awesome rifle!
I think you guys have a pretty good population of resident geese, and most of those are the greater sub-species; 7-8# birds. Wish you were closer, I'd be happy to whittle down those numbers some.
Next time you see it, say hi, the owner is Craig and I'm Brad.
Interesting statement, so I looked it up
Texas is 95.8% private land, rest is public.
The following states all are at 95-96% privately owned;
OK, IN, OH, IL
Iowa is at 97.2% private
Kansas at 98.1%
Public land is like socialism
and anti capitalistic
The state with the most private land,
the socialist liberal coastal elite state of Rhode Island,
with 98.5% private land.
The most "socialist" state when it comes to public land,
is Alaska with only 4% private and 96% public land.
As an average in the US, it is 65% private and 35% public.
Read a short biography about the ranch the other day.
The King Ranch was established by Captain Richard King.
Mr. King was a steam boat captain.
Interestingly, Mr. King,
who built/amassed the largest ranch in Texas,
a great Texan
was born in
NEW YORK CITY
First pizza and now this

You get to sleep in much on Saturday? Teal season opened, not sure how hard its hunted down there.
birds aint here yet. fishing buddy got 2 blue wings for 3 hunters
we need a cold front.

The prairie is doing well; 3 hunts and 3 limits. I got in a good WW hunt too and got some jewelry.
Where are you shooting WW with a 20ga?
Some videos of teal. Dove video is taking me longer.
