try soaking the screws in corrosion X, let sit for a day. it often loosens the corrosion enough. I coat all my screws in CX every time I disassemble my reels, and never have any problems now.
One of the first things I do with a new reel is to take it apart and coat everything where Corrison X and Penn Muscle grease. Corrison X for the bearings & parts with tight tolerances and Muscle grease on everything else (gears, clickers, inside the frame, screw threads, between the reel seat and the frame, etc.)
