I am flying to florida on american airlines. I have a bazooka rod case. I wanted to take 4 rods in the case, however the american regulations say you are allowed 2 rods. if I put 4 rods in the case am I going to be charged more? has anyone flown american with rods lately?

I took 5 rods to panama on AA flight with out a problem.

Tackle bag and rod tube counted as 1 bag.

    How many bags were checked?
In March if I remember 1st checked bag was $15 ,2nd was $40 total
and I had 3 so it went to $100 for a domestic trip coach class.

You will be OK unless you Insist to pay. :)
American Airline and Continental airlines have the generous policies regarding rod cases and ususally don't give much hardtime at check-in counters.
