I was talking to a fellow student in my Biology class who is a diver. He said he went to the FG recently and saw several packs of hoos patroling the edges of the reefs. He also said some mega AJs are there (as always) and he one huge marbled grouper was almost 5ft long. The biggest marbled grouper he had ever seen!

Man, I wish my boat had the range to get out there.. without a bladder.
All I need is an extra 10 gals of oil and 70 gals of gas(est).. They will be at Baker and aransas banks soon enough....

you will see them soon enough in venice and the only bladder you will need to worry about is the one your drain regularly....rick
OK, I'm an idiot( no offense God), but it's so hard to be politically correct these days, but I can't spell. LOL

yeah, you are right. I was thinking tuna, but forgot about all of the hoos those guys catch....
he has already caught one over 100#s the hoos are mine and the big tuna can be his.
Bret,

We run a Venture 34 out of Port A. You had Any luck lately out of Port A? We broke the jetty's for the first time since late September New Years Eve just to try and get the cobwebs and make sure all was still in working order. Some really good weeds from about 22 miles on out, but the weather was so bad couldn't even troll them. Heard any reports on Wahoo arriving at Southern or Hospital and the like yet?

Kent, my boat hasnt seen water in way too long. I have heard that some hoos have been caught in the baker-aransas bank area.. but that was a couple of weeks ago.. The only recent report said that nothing but a mess of snake kings all over the rocks.. The hoos should start showing in the next 30 days.. Glad to hear you got to run your boat.. I am going to try and get down there this month to do some maintenance and run the boat for a few hrs..

The only fish at hospital and southern were little kingfish. We tried the top with bally's and marauder's with no sucess. Did you buy the venture 34 from D.A.H.? I've been on his venture 39. Both are very nice well built boats. Venture makes the best CC on the market.
Mr. Bill,

We bought ours from Alex at Ronnie's in Aransas Pass. Despite being a little slower than my friends 31 conteders, the extra weight really makes a difference in the ride. We were in solid 4' cross seas running 28 knots pretty smooth considering and far drier than expected. While speed is nice on calm days, I wouldn't trade for smooth and dry on the sloppy ones.
Bret,

We are looking at next weekend for a trip back down. Figure if the weather is good we will make a run, if it is bad we might trade poles for shotguns and duck hunt a little. If it looks good next weekend and you decide to make a run, let me know and maybe we can buddy boat out. If the weather is good enough, I would like to run south to the floaters and see if we can do some YFT population control. Have you been out of Packary yet?
Kent
Hit Ranzell's on the way and see if you can pick up some hoos.
Have not made it out of packery yet, but plan on it this year.. I might keep the boat at a buddies house in padre isles for a few weeks. it looks doubtful that I will be down next weekend. I have venice the 19-21 and CR the first of Feb. let us know how you do..
Looks great out there this weekend.
