So far this summer the weather and fishing conditions have been about as different and unusual as it gets but the fishing is still very good. This past week we had a lot of people down and limits of red snapper and amberjack were taken very easily. We had a few cobia mixed in, and the occasional grouper. The gulf has been very calm which has made the fishing that much more enjoyable, yesterday it was actually cool out there in the morning. The next few weeks should produce more of the same. Bluewater is still a good ways out but has certainly began to push back. More so from the east than west. The areas in close that had been mostly murky on the surface are starting to turn a clean green and with the large amount of Bait Fish out there right now it could be any day that the tuna show up in numbers. We still have open dates for July and August---Don't forget that snapper season closes on Aug. 15th at 12:00 a.m.

I don't know about Damon and them but we've been catching snapper around bouys and rigs in 75ft-330ft from the top to the bottom. thats right we've actually been catching 5-12lb red snapper around bouys just out of some of the passes. and according to NMFS the are hardly any snapper left.
