Before they closed beach/jetties in Port Aransas due to Corona Virus, I caught nice red drum on spoon.
I fish Corpus Christi area as fishing is banned in Port Aransas now.

    Kil- don't get a ticket!
if you'd like to wade some back lakes for topwater redfish, I know some out of the way walk-in spots. I'm in Rockport (better fishing) and officing from the house. just give me ring or PM. Redfish on fire right now!

Is that Bob Hall pier? Spent many beautiful nights and afternoons on that pier, decent restaurant there as well.
That old lady at the entrance will try to charge you for everything, had to haggle with her so many times that we became friends.
When the sheep head bite is on you can get a quick limit, especially lose to the pilings.
The other pictures look like the Packery channel jetty. Good place to fish and great fishing for reds with 2-3 oz spoons at the end of the jetty. There is tarpon there as well in the winter, just could not get any to bite my lures.
    I miss Texas beach fishing!!!

yep it's BH pier. think its the port a south jetty, though.
I've jumped a tarpon there the past 2 summers in a row.
this year I'm hoping for a landing.....
beaches, piers, jetties closed. state boat ramps closed.
    still catchin 'em...........

20200416_082058.jpg 20200416_082439.jpg I finally got a red drum on top water lure on wading under the guidance of lite-liner today.
It was frustrating as lite-liner constantly got hit while I did not get a single hit on last two trips. I think the action of the lure made difference. I tried fast retrieval, slow retrieval, jerking, twitching, steady retrieval or stop and go as I never got a hit.
Finally I got a hit and I can remember how I work the lure. :)
I think I can do better on the next trip.
Thank lite-lined for all your help.

Jetty fishing reopened again a few days ago.

It was almost one fish on every cast for 30 minutes.
I landed 4 big red upto 40 lb and dropped many. All on 3 oz spoon.

Kil, since you are in town, why don’t you join us on the 60 hour LaPesca trip next week? Let’s go pitch some poppers to the yellowfin at the floaters.
