Took "The Puncher" out today for its first real fishing trip and not only did we catch, we slaughtered the reds. We caught reds up to 24lbs with the average fish weighing in at around 9lbs or so. We caught around 15 fish that were upwards of 12lbs and ended the day with around 40-50+ reds. I do not have an actuall number as the fishing was fast and furious and with four on the boat, the reds were a flying. We had quad hookups 5 times today and had numerous tripple hookups. Doubles were very common and we didnt think anything of it. The quads were just tight!!!
We caught on every few cast from about 6 a.m - 11:00 or so and then the fishing slowed to about 4 fish per drift.(that is slow as some of the drifts would easily produce 12+ fish)
As usuall, all fish came on Rat-L-Traps and we strictly used the Super Trap. We also used two drift socks to slow the drift due to the strong winds. Water temps ranged from 68-72 degrees in the areas that we fished.

Two of the guys on the boat had never caught reds but today was their lucky day and both guys landed fish upwards of 15lbs. Heck of a day.

Don: It was good to finally see you on the water. Sorry I didnt stay and chat but it was hard to hear you and my friends were just pooped. I couldnt hear a thing you were saying but it was one awesome day. I had no clue that you were watching what we were doing but maybe you learned something. Today was a little different than usuall as the fish were staging a little closer to the discharge. See you out and next time give me a ring or send me an E when you are headed out. I will be out again next weekend. The lake is getting packed!!!

We released all the fish but eight. Jason and I have enough fish to last us a while and the eight we kept went to my friends cookie and brian. Heck of a day guys and I look forward to many more exciting trips on the water. Two more weeks and "The Puncher" will take its first offshore fishing trip with me behind the wheel.

Thanks guys and sorry for the communication problems. Nice fish Don and I had nothing to do with it except for maybe a pointer twords the proper lures to use. Good to see ya and next time I will make sure to stop and say hi.
It was nice to finally not have to clean any fish and I dont plan on cleaning any for a long time. If my friends dont want them, back to the water they go. A photo will work just fine.
