would anyone know what is fair markup for reel from a tackle shop. i got a sizeable gift cert to a local shop that doesn't carry the brand i want to get. he said he would check it out with manufacturer and try to get it for me. been 10 days so I got to thinking that i would offer to let him order it from another retail dealer and pay him a fair markup over that so he doesn't lose his profit on the deal. or, ask for a refund on the certificate less a fair profit for him. it's really a long story how this happened but wifey doesn't know about product lines! thanks for your help.

That's a good question.
A jewlery store makes between 100 and 200 percent markup on their product.
I figure that a sporting goods/tackle store is gonna get a minimum of 25 percent.
You might make out best buying something that has a stable resell price and just barter/trade it away. YES, I heard that the wife bought it for ya. Kinda the best of boths worlds.
I feel your pain.
I guess that I should quote my Dad....Don't look a gift horse in the mouth boy.
The important thing is that your wife tried hard to please you. Mess with that at YOUR risk.
