ELR shooting

Any other ELR shooters on here? I build extreme long range rifles and am amazed at the progress in the sport. I regularly compete in an ELR club where our first target is @2050y. With two or more shooters having 4 out of 10 hits or better, the comp then gets moves out to 2580y, then 3050y. Years ago I never imagined the hit ratios guys are getting these days. One of my team shooters holds two records in our small club with 9 out of 10 hits at 2050y, and 6 out of 10 hits at 2580y. He's shooting a 338LM Improved.

Targets are 37" round steel plates with sensors that set off a light array.
I do long range shooting just not ELR

would like to see some of your custom build

I like 338LM; I shoot one in Cadex

I have a website but I rarely update it. Most of my current updates and builds are on my Instagram page under BillyGoatMchine.
good looking rifles

tell us about your machined parts:
barrels - specials that you do with this blank ,
chassis
actions

I assumed you sell complete rifles and not parts

If so, post your specs and prices

90% of my builds are special orders and build to the customers specs. If I'm given the choice for a barrel manufacturer I pick Bartlein every time. Im my experience they have the most consistency accuracy wise among the barrel makers. Actions vary across the board, but Defiance Machine and Bat Machine being the top contenders for extreme ELR. Stocks would be Manners Composites taking the top spot, followed closely by Mcmillan.

I chamber on a South Bend lathe using a True Bore alignment system. The traditional way to chamber barrels uses a "spider" chuck on both ends of the barrel. Problem with that is it induces stress and torques the barrel while dialing it in to true the bore before reaming. Once the barrel is released from the spiders it will spring back to its original form. The True Bore Alignment System solves that issue by only grabbing the barrel on the chamber end only, with angular and rotational adjustments on a single 6 jaw scroll chuck. That leaves the muzzle end of the barrel free floating without stress ensuring I can accurately time the barrel to the 12 o'clock position. I also time the barrel to 12'oclock from the bore, and not the outside of the barrel like most do. All of these extra steps I take make a difference when shooting to the extreme distances of the sport today. Its really not necessary for hunting rifles, but I do it anyway to eliminate all doubts on the equipment.

I shoot the comps in the Northern Ca chapter which takes place outside of the small town of Upper Lake on BLM land. I also personally shoot on friends cattle ranches or hunting clubs. I live 150 miles south of the Oregon border and were pretty rural so no public ranges in my area.
