I am waiting to get the call to meet the boats out of DSH. Snagged and the crew are out there chasing the elusive yellow fins. Weather should have been fantastic. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they had a good trip. It will be fun to meet them all in person.
I bet that they had a great trip. It looks like they couldn't have had better weather! I didn't get to make this trip but will be there in the morning also to check out the catch.
I can't sleep. I want to meet the guys and hear the stories over breakfast. We fought hard to maintain the limits on yellow fin as there was a scoping meeting and the feds wanted to go from 10 fish to one on yellow fin tuna. We were the only national recreational fishing group to fight for 3. We won. The other guys wanted one. We would be in the same position as we were on amberjack getting a half of a fish with the next yellow fin bag limit reduction. 10 down to 3 is a big reduction but could you believe one was even on the table? Again we stood and fought hard for the recreational anglers bag limit.
Jerry, I can't thank you and TJ enough for the fresh Yellow Fin. I had fresh steaks for lunch. Yummy. I even broke down and got some of that green paste from Japan. That stuff is spicy.lol I enjoyed meeting a great bunch of guys. Putting faces with web aka's was a treat. I appreciate all the support for RFA today. The appreciation we received for the work was very humbling. I am quite sure a picture will be landing here soon of the gracious show of appreciation. Jerry get some rest. TJ thanks for your input. Jim
Jerry and TJ fixed me up. 127# It went on ice in about six minutes. Man If I continue to run with the "Big Dogs" I am going to have to break out the XXXXL Ice Chest. lol I enjoyed meeting all you. I am enjoying the Tuna.
Sometimes a xxxL chest won't get the job done eiither. LOL 85 lb in the chest and a 127lb on the tail gate. GE 12-20. 5 min's from the dock to the cleaning station by the Ferry. no problem with tempature on a cool night.
I'll never forget coming home from my first 48 hr trip on the Pelican a few years back. I had my three fish 65 - 75# range stuffed into a 150 qt. Igloo with the tails sticking out while waiting to get on the ferry. A fella coming off of the ferry pulled up and shouted .... "Hey buddy, where'd you get those Ling?" I pointed back over my shoulder and said..."the south jetties !!!" He said ..."Man, I'm going !!!"
Does anybody have a pic of Pat's(Walleye) Ford taurus loaded to the gills w/ fish after the Quatro Tuna trip? good new thread idea-best overloaded w/ fish or game pic. I'm sure GS or Mr. Bill can find one..... -Brian
