I got the itch to do one of these.I used to build commercially many moons ago.I haven't built a rod now in 10 or 15 years. this was just a rebuild of a really decent graphite spinning rod I found at a yard sale for 10 bucks:)
It's a monster, and I believe it will handle the northeast tuna. (unless they come back over 73" next year):D

Well ya, To do this, I first wrapped a coke can with black.put a coat of urethane on it,let it dry and seperate into about 10 thread strips, then it's just like weaving a basket, every other strip goes one way ,the rest the other. you tie a 10(or so) thread band, tie off, then switch the strips opposite, and tie another 10 thread band. etc. etc........tedious work, but all thread art is. I thought these looked really sharp back when I did them years ago. I wanted to see if I still rememberd how to.
