Whats the main difference between a casting (spinning) rod & a jigging rod? Can I use my spinning rod for jigging using 150-200 grams jigs?

    My rod is rated @ PE6-PE8 & max lure @ 200 grams

The GENERAL characteristic of a "jigging rod" is a shorter (5.5 to 7.0ft) rod with 'backbone' together with a 'fast' tip section to impart action to the jig. However, some forms of jigging can be done with longer rods. A reel with a high retrieve rate is also necessary to obtain the 'right' jig action.

You are right on both counts however ,if you are going to jig for an extended time you will find that the short jigging rods setups require a lot less energy.(JMO)
