I picked up these two Carpenter lures a while back thinking they would be good here in the gulf, but I can't figure out how to get the best action out of them, anyone have any advice? I tied the bigger one on the last trip I went on, rigged with two ST-66 2/0 I think, and it just didn't really swim much, felt like I was just reeling in a stick. Tried doing some twitching as well but wasn't too confident in it at that point and ended up just tying on a halco. Thoughts?

ST66-2/0 is the correct treble. They dont "swim" well, they are more for casting into baitball's/boiling fish and letting the lure sink under line tension. Same concept as the topwater plugs/stickbaits, give them twitches and some rod action but they dont really swim per say.

The lively sardine are rigged A little bit different it’s 2/0 for the belly and 1/0 for the tail this is for the 50 model and the 40 1/0 for the belly and 1 for the tail
All the hooks are ST66 !!!
