Certainly a nice Scamp either way.

There was one trip last spring someone caught a 38" Red Snapper, and it looked huge, it was probably easily well above the 30lb mark, it was massive, I'd never seen one even close to that. Richard the deckhand was holding it up and it covered his entire upper body. Still today I'm kicking myself for not getting a picture of it before being released, that Snapper was massive and beautiful.
There's still plenty of big fish out there, we just don't see them as often as years ago.

We have been getting them to around 22lbs on our 36 hour trips. Unreal how they have come back since around 1998. We never got any over here in the 1980's. I may have caught 2 or 3 a year and i fished 2 over nite trips a week back then. Once they forced shrimpers to use FED's on their nets 1986 it took about 15 years before they started showing up. Now they have become a pain since they push away other fish on our places. Go on a 12 hour trip and get your limit in 10 mins.

The old saying of ( if one doesn't really have anything good to say, well it's best not to say anything probably)

Well, I've always thought that saying was invented by people that can't take constructive criticism or hold themselves accountable for their actions. Or lack of actions. In any case, say away PK!

Meh. If we don't fish that means it wasn't meant to be. We all get a nice refund and start planning for the next one. That'll be March 12/13 for me. And this is why I booked one trip per month and three in May so that if the weather gets the best of us I still get some trips in before the summer shutdown!

This is what is showing as of today, for Thursday morning the16th through till Friday evening around 6pm. There's always hope, but honestly seriously doubt this is gonna clean up enough even if it is a week out.

I can't even get bent about it anymore, cause its just kinda become the norm.

Hopefully at some point the tide will turn....

My main disappointment is we all get excited and talk about the trip leading up to it and I look forward to fishing with old reliable fishing buddies plus the always new fishing buddies but then the weather (or in that one case the boat) upchucks and everything get washed away with the tide. Then again, maybe that's one of the things that makes it so appealing, that we don't have any control over it and when it's good enough to get to go it makes is hyper satisfying.

Of course, whether or not the fish are biting is a whole other possibility for glory or abject disappointment.

I was surprised they moved it after all. Friday looks rough but hopefully the downward trend will amplify in time to leave Saturday. I'd prefer to be catching at the rail as opposed to chumming from it.

For those that wanna jump on a Tuna trip this coming weekend, Williams Party Boats (Capt John) still has 12 spots available for this coming Saturday/Sunday.
They had canceled the 16th/17th and 20th/21st due to weather, there's a narrow window if everything works out for this weekend, they are trying to make happen. Still 12 spots open...

But with 12 spots open I think they'll still run. I believe the minimum is 20 or 22 if I recall correctly. Conditions are trending down though so hopefully that trend continues and we have a nice weather trip. More importantly hopefully the fish will be in a feeding frenzy.

Still 10 spots open, yall get booked, come support these charters of pier 19, think both these boats have lost more trips than they would like the last several months.
Come fish with the Blackfin wizard himself ( Jbrandons) , the ever so Chatty Jig Master ( Illy )
( HBrack ) and his mad skills at the rail. And yours truly, the one with none stop nonsense, me.
Although I'm actually pretty quiet on the boat, hiding behind me sun shield and eye glasses plotting me next move to find success at Yellowfin.
