And voila! Just like that we are looking ahead with jig baited breath to the Captain John Spring 2023 36 hour tuna trip schedule. Can't wait. So far I have Jan 26, Feb 16, Mar 12 and Apr 13. Anyone else on those trips?

Oh yeah, last hooray before season end! I know PK is going to be trying new stuff as usual and I am going to be trying out some tricks I picked up last week. I got four days in a row left, then a much earned summer rest and gear maintenance while we wait on the fall schedule to post.

@Palomarknot oh yeah i've probably got way too much tackle for this trip! thanks to @scubaarchery and another local friend I've got pretty much everything I need...I think...maybe...gonna have to make a stop at the Buccees in Texas City...

Also is anyone going to be fishing for pinfish in the morning before getting on the boat? Friend showed me a spot on the map but figure if a bunch of us will be going maybe I will just join y'all.

Planning on catching some Pinfish as well, at Jamail Bay Park right there off 61st street. Not quite sure what time we will roll in, if you see someone with a yellow bait bucket with stickers all over it, that be me.

Cool see you Saturday. By the way what do you do for food during these trips? I heard the galley on the CJ isnt great. Do they let you use their microwaves if you bring food? I am used to full galleys on West Coast boats. Sure missing those breakfast tacos and cheeseburgers on the water!

Fish the New Buccaneer. They have both.

Well, yes the galley on the CJ is a microwave snack bar more less. Personally bring everything I need myself and use the microwave if needed.
Scubaarchery is right, one can never have enough gear....

If you're making the stop at Buc-ee's that's a good place to load up on tacos, sammies, snacks, etc. Usually CJ does a crockpot of brisket but otherwise all microwave. I have seen plenty of folks bring noodle soup and heat it up in the microwave among other things. Geno usually brings a giant box of donuts but those go quick.

I have everything I need to catch fish and yet I still had three Amazon deliveries to the house this week for these last two trips. I'll never learn...

I built my tackle bag based on Scubaarchery's instructional videos. If you have even half of what he recommends you are set! Plus, what you don't have we'll all have extra and then some. 😆

Never heard of a bigger Party boat with no normal size grill. I can see for boats under 50ft but at 65 ft or bigger all of our boats have a full galley. Some boats rent the galley out to someone who then handles all that mess and pays the boat.
I've just ordered a 160 roosta popper and was wondering if the hooks need to be changed out on it and if so does anyone know what hooks to change them to?
First GOM trip was a great success! Weather was amazing and I only saw 1 guy hurl over the rail. I ended up with a jumbo blackfin and a nice grouper. Caught my first beeliners and some monster red snapper (all released to fight another day). Was nice meeting @Palomarknot and @jbrandon ! Friend's first time fishing and he had a blast. Put my director on his first yellowfins so hoping that's worth a promotion! All in all a great trip and the ppl on the boat made it even better!
