The only thing wrong about big red snapper is when you can't keep them and see them float away
For reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaalllllllll! But let's not get back into the red snapper floating away conversation again. Too many hard opinions on that subject and hurt feelings.

I looked at Tackle Direct yesterday and they only showed the Gold Glitzy in 95 not available but after you mentioned they had some in stock I went back and did a more thorough search and found a few more. But unless I am doing something wrong, and I probably am, I couldn't find any in 150. I went through them all and could only find Tiger and Brown Speckle in the 95 version in stock. The rest of the 95, 110, 130 and 150 were all unavailable. Are there different naming options maybe? I'm looking at the squidtrex vibe but maybe there is another option, like 'squidtrex vibe max monster ultra wiggle' just to confuse me? Which don't take much... 😁

Super curious how they workout, looking forward to the report.
Never thought see a day with someone complaining about giant red snapper, lol
Times are good young Jedi, enjoy it....
You know, that is actually a great point. I think I will take your approach this trip and just be thrilled with catching fish using new techniques, tactics and baits. If I can't keep it, so be it. Hell, I'm looking at it from the wrong angle possibly. Just be happy to be out there when so many others aren't as fortunate as us to have the opportunity. AND having a freezer 69 (hehheh) percent full of fish from trips going back to October doesn't hurt that outlook either.

I actually go by Sir Jedi Master Kenobi Gandalf, Wizard of Weeknight Leftovers for Gourmet Meals.

PK what is making my head spin the most is trying to decipher why in the holy hell you haven't told me your company is hiring and give me some info and/or contacts for the East Texas housing market because dammit, if you're having doubles of Woodford Reserve at work at this hour trying to figure out my nonsense then I WANT TO WORK THERE!!!

Come on baby, help a whiskey loving fishing buddy out. 😆

Yes sir they are all sold out as of right now. You might be able to put them in the wishlist part so you get a email once they are back in stock.

Meltontackle.com has some squidtrex, a few but there's enough of different sizes and patterns to pick from.
True. I have some Squidtrex and Vibes arriving from Melton today. They had the best selection in stock of all the usual suspects for online tackle like Tackle Direct, Charkbait, Amazon, etc. Granted, I paid almost $30 for two day shipping so I would have it by this weekend's trip but that's on me for not ordering them sooner.

Or actually it's y'alls fault for only mentioning squidtrex this week. Where was this info when I could have used it without paying extra for expedited shipping?!? 😆

What days do we have trips going out this week and what website do yall use to check the weather? It's getting close to my trip i can start praying for a good weather window
My son, Gonefishings and I are headed out on the CJ Sunday Monday weather permitting of course. I look at a couple of sites, and will drop links below. They tend to give opposite forecasts which works for me because I just take an average of the two put together and it usually works out to be what is going on out there when we go.

NOAA can give the outlook of Poseidon in his murder death kill mood doing butterfly strokes through drowning seas jamming Viking death doom metal.
I generally look at the Stetson Bank and Flower Gardens forecast. I figure if we can't get past those areas it doesn't matter anyway.

Tides4Fishing can give the outlook of Poseidon smoking a joint back floating on calm seas listening to space rock.
Tide times and charts for Freeport, Texas and weather forecast for fishing in Freeport in 2023 (tides4fishing.com)
I select the open water forecast instead of the coastal area forecast. And I use Freeport instead of Galveston as it's kind of a centrally located jumping off point between Perdido and Magnolia since we never know where we are going until we get to the boat. And even then we don't always know.

The two combined fall somewhere in-between classic rock & outlaw country and those make for damn good fishing jams.

I think PK has one he likes that is pretty accurate. That said everyone will have what works for them, try them out and see what works for you. Or you may find something totally new in which case you can share it here. Learn and let learn!

We're on port side, 50, 51 & 52. Of course at night, we can all fish together but I'm guessing you'll be casting from the bow most of the night?
I'll be up on that bow where the Gangsters be, doing me very best to entice a Yellowfin with an artificial, that's priority #1.
Of course I'll come visit, take a break, probably jig a little or Chunk, just have to see what is needed to create action.

Need Advice, ive picked up a new Okuma PCH Custom roller rod 6' 10" , the first roller is 3 tier, I've put my 30 international on here for now till the Makaira 20ll SEa gets here. The line coming off the reel is at less of a angle is running under the top roller, am I doing this right or should I run it under the second roller from top. I haven't had one of these since my very first saltwater rod in the 80's which was about a 4lb Penn roller rod but it didn't have the 3 tier first roller.

I got a few if these in last night. Like previously mentioned, I have not ever used them so I am curious how those of you that have fished with them rigged them? My initial thought is too remove that split ring and tie or tactical clip to the solid ring running through the body to the weight. And has anyone put additional assist hooks on that bottom ring? I'm planning on using them for bottom fishing, and MAYBE jigging them a little for black fin, but again, what have they been successful at for y'all?

Oh, and mine smelt like squid for sure!
