Okay, so today Louis (Gigabite) and I went and had lunch in Buda. Afterwards we drifted over to Cabela's (we're in the neighborhood right?). We headed straight to the Bargain Cave and we looking at fishing stuff. I see a couple of 30 WLRSA that had been used and bought back. They were marked $341 but a little scuffed up. Was gonna try and cut a deal on em and Louis found two pair of Van Staal titanium pliers. One had no leather case and the other was new with the case. Both were originally $280 a piece. We made inquiries and got them down to $135 on the pair w/o the case and $175 on the pair with the case. Let them start to put them back and I told them I'd give them $120 for the pair w/o the case. The young manager told me he couldn't and would go $125. I asked him if he was gonna let a sale go for $5. He threw the logic back at me and I was gonna get em. Then he said that he could make me a better deal if I bought them both. I asked how much better. He said $75. While Louis and I were trying to figure out what he was saying, I told him sold. They marked em $74.99 each. It gets better. They were having a promotion and if you put $200 on your card they would give you a $50 gift card. Louis put everything on his card and instead of giving a gift card they knocked the $50 off the price. End result was two pair of Van Staal titaniums for $99.98. Ask to borrow Louis', his is the pair in the case.

Thanks for shopping at Cabelas. Tomorrow I might go back and see what kind of deal that guy will make me on the 2 Tiagras.

Sorry to drag this thread up from the bowels of the archives, but I think Fred and Louis are both pretty low-class hos at that. Personally, I don't even go near Cabelas unless I have business to transact in the Gun Library. High Quality American shotguns in immaculate condition are getting so hard to find these days. I would absolutely faint if any of my higher class friends saw me there with those two yahoos, trying to talk some poor schmuck out of $5.00 on a pair of freaking fishing pliers, for God's sake. I am sooooo glad I wasn't there.

If you saw either gimmedeal or Gigabite up close, you wouldn't make that statement, my friend. Beautiful young women scream when they see them approaching. Louis is better looking than Fred and Fred walks down Sixth Street yelling: "I'm not an animal! I'm a human being!" When they go to Cabelas, the kids all abandon watching the bass and catfish kill minnows to run over to stare at them. I suspect that dude at Cabelas gave them the discount just to get them the hell out of the store so they would stop scaring customers.

And they are cheap (as if their whining about the pliers weren't enough evidence). I have gone with them to the Texas Roadhouse and they just order coffee and fill it up over and over with sugar and mustard, eat the free peanuts and throw the shells on the floor, and then beat it without leaving a tip. But I could go on and on.

:) They may have a tuff time dropping prices on some of the Diawa stuff that is Map pricing.
MAP pricing is just that, min ad.
As a retailer you can discount anything you want. Just can't ad lower than the map.;)
