What braid is the thinnest. I just got a 870N and would like to get at least 300 yds of either 50,55,60,65 lb braid on there. What are you guys using? thanks!
50# braid should be the thinnest.
Since you have an Accurate Reel then I check out the handy line calculator they have on the website:
Accurate Reels
Spectra Diameter (inches)
50# 0.014
65# 0.016
80# 0.017
Mono Diameter (inches)
12# 0.014
15# 0.015
20# 0.018
I did the calculations for you and here are the results:
Accurate B-870N Spectra capacity:
617 yards of 50#
473 yards of 65#
419 yards of 80#
So it seems 65# will give you want you want and leave some room for a short topshot or leader.
P.S.
Which braid line are you considering? I just got the Daiwa Saltiga PE-6 (80#) braid today and its very nice. Its limp like Jerry Brown and Izoline, but its has depth markers on it, which is handy for know how much line you let out.
I hope that answered you question.
