Hey Guys,

I just got finished moving 600 yards of 80lb JB Hollow from a TLD20II to an Avet HX! I never would have guessed it could hold that much, but it did! No room for a topshot though, it's full to the brim! Had to hand crank it from one rig to the other, now I'm having cramps in my left arm, and blisters on my right hand! LOL!

If a fish ever takes me down to the knot, I'm throwing that rig into the drink!

I might have to toss him in to retrieve an HX though... :)

That would be an interesting thing to witness.

The calculation chart doesn't help much as the braided lines are nor rounded.
On the chart, the 30 lbs mono is equivalant to 150 lbs braided line, but the 30 lbs mono is equivalant to 80 - 100 lbs in fact when you spool.
Once you use the lines a few times, the braided line get tighter and you get more room on your spool.

DBG,
Was that the HX, HXW?

Anyone have thoughts on how a HXN might balance out on a OTI Jig rod
and how much less would be the spool capacity?

And lastly for some one wanting to keep Gun Smoke busy. Ebay has a set
of 4 avet 30's w\poles for the low starting bid of $2500. plus shipping.

Hurry up last day for a chance to pay list price,

hx holds 600 yds. of 80 lb. jb hollow with room for a wind on. More than enough for most fish. This is my primary conventional jigging reel. The maximum drag is around 28 lb. I am looking at the release of the new Baker 2 speeds as they are supposed to generate 40 lb. of drag!
It is rated for 550 yds. of 80lb. spectra and is 3/0 size with a weight of 36 oz. and under $500.

Penn also has a new Torque 300LT Lever Drag for 2008 makes 32# of drag.

Bazz,

The new torque lever drag reel retails for 599.99
360 yards 30# mono
360 yards 80# braid
Single speed 6.3-1 ratio
41.4 oz.
32 lbs of drag

I don't see this reel making a big success in the market. You have the new John Baker two speeds at 459.00 and the Accurate 665 two speed which is around 565.00 retail. Why would you buy a single speed reel in this price range. The regular retail for the torque 300 star drag is 399.99. Even I wouldn't pay 200 more just for a lever. I know the weight of over 41 ounce will bother a lot of people. Good luck Penn.

Heres a pic of the TRQ300LD

How much 80lb hollow would the HW Wide hold?
I was thinking of getting one for light sharking and heavy tuna.
