Attaching to the end of the leader questions

Hey Guys

Ok I’ve read thru most – if not all the info about rigging here and on 2cool and have a few questions:

I going to use a leader section of fluorocarbon of various lengths and wt class - but I need to know how to and with which material to attach the hook or lure for each different application.

Such as:

Trolling For Wahoo u
Wire - what size and length (single strand or multi-strand) (coated ?)

Do use always troll with a wire since you don’t know what’s going to hit a lure – if yes why do all the pre-rigged trolling lure makers use 150 pound mono - it seams a Wahoo would cut that like butter?

Casting For Tuna
What to attach to the fluoro leader - what size and length (knots or crimp - if knots which one)

Jigging For Tuna
What to attach to the fluoro leader - what size and length (knots or crimp - if knots which one)

Chunking For Tuna
What to attach to the fluoro leader - what size and length (knots or crimp - if knots which one)

Thanks

Guys ,

I will answer the " casting for tunas " , here is my rig ;

PE4 line / 65 lbs braided connected to 100 lbs mono leader by means of MidKnot and then 8" of +/- 200 lbs fluorocarbon " bite " leader . If the tunas are over 100 lbs. , I may opt for stronger line such PE6 / 80 lbs braided line .

The FC leader is crimped on both ends , splitring is used to attach it to the eyelet of the lure while the other end is tied directly to the mono leader .

Jon .
I am no expert, here my .02 cent.

90-275 lb wire will do the jo depending how big and heavy your lure.
2-4 ft multi-strand wire, I don't like single strand. It's easier to lost a lure.

Troll with mono will be better if your quary are tuna, mahi and marlin. For wahoo and king mack use wire.

I tie a short mono leader via mid knot, double uni or loop to loop via wind on. Jon might have a better solution than mine

I tie a short mono leader via mid knot, double uni and some time loop to loop wind on.

Use circle hook, you might be able to get from using leader
