You get what you pay for. Sure did rust fast. Don't think that reel will be on my most wanted list. Gunsmoke would have tied the sea anchor to that reel after seeing those pics. It then would have been beating with a sledge hammer and burned in the pit. Then, blackballed for life.
i don't know if this is an isolated issue or a common problem. however i am glad i don't own 50 of them...lol.. my left index finger has almost healed from a blackfin that hit the jig while i was hand lining it back up. the spectre cut my finger to the bone at a joint when the tuna hit....rick
wow. very poor quality of metals used... that explains the price. Guess theold saying "dont judge a book by its cover" is true for this. It looked so good brand new, and after one small tuna.... ouch! A nice YFT would tear it up on the first run.
I'd send that sucker back to the company. Thats not suppose to happen especially being new and after only one black fin. That particular one had to be a flawed reel I would think or from a companies point, I would hope so.
Since SKR didn't get to use Tom's new reel from Colemans, guess we'll see how it fares on the GEM trip. Almost bought one and decided to go ahead and get a second San Diego Special from Avet. Can't wait to hear the results results.
