Right now all of my assist hooks are Owner. Is there a better choice? Most of my other hooks are Gammy but when I got into jigging my local store carried just the Owners and they have worked fine but I need some more so I would like to know your thoughts. Most of my jigs are 224G or smaller.

thanks but I would rather just buy them. I've got more than enough stuff to keep me busy without making hooks. LOL

What size do you guys typically use for the different GOM species?

if using OTI Raptor, go with the 10/0 hooks for tuna, AJ, grouper. don't be afraid of using big assist hooks for game fish in GOM. I prefer making my own and use Shout Kudako 7/0, Owner SJ-41 11/0, Mustad Hoodlum 11/0, and Fisherman Spinoza Siden 10/0 to 13/0 hooks in the GOM.

you can buy them here:

Really depends on the jigs size. I like the largest hook that wont tangle with the jig.

I like OTI Raptor as a depenable hook I don't need to tie

I use my own tied hooks, they are Jigging master monster.
Other three I've experiment with are HOTS Otoko, Fisherman Spinoza, and Shout.

For the assist cord I think the cheapest is the brand Big Power Horse.
Kilsong is my supplier for it.

These are products I like.
