April 1 BFT Hearing

There will be a hearing on a proposed rule that will reduce quotas for both recreational and commercial tuna fisherman by over 160 MT in 2011. The hearing will be held a NMFS Headquarters in Gloucester MA on 55 Great Republic Dr on Friday April 1 from 1 to 3 PM. Everyone who is the area and has an interest in fishing for tuna is urged to attend this meeting and voice your concerns with this proposed rule. If this quota is taken away it is very unlikely it will ever be restored.

The NMFS will be holding additional hearings in Fairhaven MA and Portland ME in the near future. Dates and times have yet to be announced.
