War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

only thing i ask is that if you dont like either candidate...you should still vote. i wont vote for either mccain or obama bc i don't fully support either...but i'm still writing in my vote (yes everyone, i am a true republican...not a liberal dont worry) because i think its important to at least try. i know my candidate won't win, but 3rd parties will never grow and become real threats unless people make the effort.

    just my .02

I disagree with you whole heartedly. I wouldn't vote for Obama for all the money left in the world and a vote for third party is first of all wasted and secondly I think we all need to vote for the lesser of 2 evils. In other words the one that can and will do the least amount of damage. Obama wants to take from the hard working people and give it to the lazy non working bums. That is stupid to say the least. If you don't work then you don't eat.

Some of Obamas earlier speeched from 2000 2001 and the like sound like he leans towards socialism. I am scared of what either candidate will do but I agree with spineyman. The lesser of 2 evils is definately the way to go.
I typically would vote democratic but not in this case...

Third party vote in this election is the same as an Obama vote in my opinion.

That is your right. I respect it.

Please do vote. It will count.

    I did defend that right...

I respectfully do not agree with the proposition that if you don't vote you have no right to complain. However, I do agree that the risk of not voting is to live with a result you may not like. There may be no harm in this man Obama--but if only half what we suspect turns out to be true, there is significant risk. There is much wrong with the Republican Party, and not being too very far to the right, there is much that President Bush stood for with which I disagree. But that having been said, consider the risk of placing a man who once would not have winced at the "socialist" label in the Oval Office--backed by a huge majority in the most liberal Congress in history. Add to that the fact that he seems to be held to no standard by his supporters AND the sad fact that the once proud institution of print and broadcast journalism has literally collapsed in support of candidacy. He associates with felons, terrorists, and anti-Americans with impunity, and again--nooone holds him responsible. He spends only a few months actually in the Senate doing Senate work and manages to vote "present" over a hundred times.

Yes there is much risk here my friends.

But the good news is that the polls are getting tighter. And even though McCain has played pretty with the Reverend Wright/Bill Ayers controversies, it is my understanding that we will be hit with millions of dollars worth of replays by Republicans who simply don't give a %$#& what McCain thinks.

I don't know what's going to be harder on this old heart--Tuesday's election or Saturday night's Tech game. What's a mother to do?

I think the mother needs to place a wager on the game.
Vegas spread, and I'll take Tech.
Right now Texas is a 6 point favorite.

Your wife must be well informed or do what you tell her. My wife watched the 30 min Barrack Obama special that aired on all of the local channels night Wedneday night. When it was over she says "I like him" I said "well then don't go [email protected]#$%ing vote."
One of my biggests problems is that millions of uninformed americans "like him".
I actually typicaly vote for some libertarian Judges and lower level postitions. I feel it gives a good spread.

im not syaing if you dont vote you cant complain....you can always complain. im just saying the 'lesser of 2 evils' strategy really isn't a good long term option if you truly believe in a 3rd party. it's more or less just selling out.

It might be selling out in your eyes but in my eyes it is allowing the most liberal socialist get in office. If you can live with him taking your hard earned money and distributing it to those that don't work then by all means vote independant. I think this is the single most important election in our life time and possibly will ever face in our life time. There is too much at stake here. If we allow Obama to get into the white house and they ( libs ) control all three branches and go unchecked doing as they please then we are in deep kimshi.

This is funny... Only if you don't think about it happening to us...

Here is a creative approach to redistribution of wealth as offered in
    a local newspaper...

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy outside a restaurant
with a sign that read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I
    laughed as
he had given away his political preference -- just imagine the
    coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him
    that
I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood
    there in
disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to
someone who I deemed more in need -- the homeless guy outside. The
    server
mumbled some *expletive deleted* and angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy my $10 as I decided he could use
    the
money more, and told him to thank the server inside. The homeless guy
    was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment, I
    realized
the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the
    waiter
was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the
    actual recipient needed money more.

Hmmm... I guess redistribution of wealth is easier to swallow in concept
    than in practical application.

I know one thing, when your in the voting booth and you look at the names on the ballot you should vote for whats in your heart and the person that is a true American and wants all of us to be free, not for one race. A American who has fought for our freedom and understands foreign affairs. Redistribution of wealth, what a crock-Vote McCain, then I know i'll be able to fish for 4 more years.
