While not the low gear reel, I have 2 Saltist 50H reels. One is set up with 400+ yards of 100lb braid and a short 5'6" 200lb hopper rod (jigging) and the other it set up with 30lb mono on a 7' FTU casting rod. Both have seen action with decent fish and have performed very nicely. However, in searching the net, I have seen where people have been doing the Carbontex upgrade and pulling 25+lbs of drag (with less wear and tear to the reel). Most are very happy with the reels. I plan on doing the upgrade myself shortly to all my jigging and popping reels.
best of luck
