Just bought an Accurate 870 xnc with a 6:1 ratio. Called Accurate and turns out for $120 bucks you can buy a gear conversion and side plate that will make it into a 4:1. Seems like a heck of a deal considering, now you'd have a reel that could stop 90% of everything that swims in the GOM.

I guess I don't understand... Why wouldn't you buy the B-870NC for the same price to begin with, instead of paying $120 extra to swap the gears?

I wouldn't worry about the high speed. On that size reel your not going to be deep dropping or using 400g+ jigs. On my smaller accurate I have the high gear and prefer it.
