Okay guys, I am going to get a community poll up to see what we can do about getting a software upgrade.

We have several choice, vBulletin, XenForo, and Invision PowerBoard

Here are the pro and cons on some of them

1. vBulletin 5 Connect Community Support Forums - vBulletin Community Forum
PRO : Familiar layout to all users on 360tuna
Cons : Pretty much Trader Feedback and Gallery will not be supported (Taken out by vBulletin)

2. XenForo XenForo Community
Pro : Faster Forum
Cons : Layout takes time to get used too, trader feedback is gone, and gallery is gone

3. IPB (my personal choice) - Invision Power Services
Pro : Faster Forum, Easy to learn layout, Gallery can be imported
Cons : Trader feedback is gone but can be rewrite eventually as the plugins system is easier to understood (might take time)

Not upgrading isn't an option as security issues will arise overtime.

Let me know what you guys think, I won't proceed until we conclude this.

Hey madday,

I know what you mean, sometimes you get redirected to this page: FileStore72.info - Your File Hosting with the heading : 'File with specified ID not found. It may have been removed for breaking the rules.'

Invision Powerboard has less holes than vBulletin but you need to keep ontop of new exploits released for both of them. Running mod_security with apache and a strong ruleset will serve as a good stopgap.

Cheers,
Jacques

Will we keep the archived forums we have now? I cant count the times I've gone back in the rod building forums to reference a rod I built Or even one that I remember someone else did . Like sagas "Soul mates" rods. tiny example of the wealth of valuable information stored in the archives . it would be heartbreaking to loose all that.
It will be redirected to new links if possible, i am still learning on what is the best way to migrate it over.
I am not a 'techie' guy, especially when it comes to the guts of the internet. I find it very frustrating when a website changes its features, feel and look just for the sake of change. As the old adage says, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

I do like the feature of trader feedback--this is one of the checks and balances that helps everyone know what's going on. Please keep this feature.
shouldn't we add one more vote option??? which is "NO CHANGE" :D
do we need upgrade...???
my only problem was got redirected if i browse from google.... just re-click once more and problem solved.....

any redirect you get is an exploit to website with malware. if your web security is not indicating this, upgrade.
I think thats a good idea about creating a new section for feedback and show it on users profile as a replacement of trader feedback, that way it can also be a reference in communication of a deal

Please make trader feedback undeletable except by Admin. Moderators who trade should not be able to edit.

Problem is, it is broken, vbulletin keeps getting hacked, if you come to 360tuna from google it redirects you to malware site :(
Continued hacking of vBulletin places our access to 360T & the security of the information on the site at risk.
If vBulletin is unable or unwilling to upgrade security measures we need to look at alternatives.

continued access to the accumulated information on the site is paramount in any migration to new forum software.
As an alternative to vBulletin , IPB appears to have the best mix of features for our needs.
sorting out how to migrate the historical data into a 360T IPB database without losing anything is the hard part.

That is a double negative because Google is malware. All kidding aside what ever the best platform is, should be where we end up.

lol, i am going to see if we can stay on vb4, but unlikely especially with vbulletin not being very helpful (support staff wise)
ewdi, I voted IPB and I too like the feedback option. I also like accessing via Tapatalk. Do they play nice with one another?
Yes, TapaTalk works, one reason I want to move to IPB is that we can have feedback option, unfortunately data import from current feedback trader system is a bit tricky
Looks like IPB it is, I will prepare and test migration
i only got the problem, if i clicked on the result which i googled in search engine and directed me to 360.... then i sometimes got redirected.... i hope you didn't misunderstood... :)
Understood madday, I was probably not clear enough.
In the history function I would bring up 360Tuna, singleclick to open pages viewed, then click on a page taking me back to the original date post. Then I would move up to "Forum" click on it and it is current time.
I would not USE the search function in Google to go direct to 360Tuna.......always resulted the the File 72 malware others mentioned.

I like where "ewdi" is going with this and I'm williing to be patient for quite some time.

The fact that there is a open exchange of ideas and criteria between all parties tells my simple brain that what we have is a work in progress on a positive path. Yes, it could be quite different in a year, 6 months, 6 days but that is what is called evolutionary growth. Good for all of us. Plenty of really smart people on the site so I am confident that it will get better as we go forward. I do miss the positive reinforcement (like) button though as mentioned on another thread. Confident that will arrive like a christmas present some day also.
Thanks for the hard work ewdi......patience is a virtue.......fishing is an addiction.

IPB has the like button and I think we can have the trader feedback too just unsure how to migrate the trader feedback. So far what we can migrate over to IPB is Topics/Posts, Forums, Members login and Gallery. The problem with these malware will eventually be bad for users in a long run too. Thanks for the support guys, I am going to do my best to keep this place enjoyable and safe at the same time.
No more "Join Date" & "Post Count"! Site is going to take time getting use to.
