I posted on reels forum as well. I’m thinking of servicing my Stella 14000. It had a heavy use this year with the excellent yft bite we had in jersey. I was thinking of carbontex drag washers. Anyone make this change? Is it it worth it? And where to source washers or full sheet and cut my self? Thanks
Cut yourself if you have lathe or concentric punch set..............otherwise buy pre-made washers .
Pointless exercise if the washers you make from sheet are not perfectly concentric.
A simple google search will get you a carbontex distributor near you.
Yes, change to CF. buy some Cal's drag grease too
Smooothdrag.com
Dawn will take care of you. less than 15 bucks
I just bought another Stella SW 10K. Whoever sold it to me was a slob, never even washed it off. The CF drags in the spool were TOAST. looked like a burned up clutch disc. CF does wear.
Yeah good suggestions either get the smoothdrag washers (all carbontex i believe, should confirm) or stella platinum service and have them replace and full service the reel for same cost. Platinum service is still my vote. Its why a stella costs so much. Shimano profits most from the TP/Gosa probably b/c lack of warranty support relative to price tag.
