Is 30 lb. Spider Wire Invisibraid a decent line for slow pitch jigging? It seems that the only braids the tackle shops in Jacksonville, Florida keep in stock are Power Pro and Spider Wire. What are your opinions of Invisibraid?
We started out using invisibraid. It's deff a decent line for Slowpitch as it has a thin diameter and high ABS. The only complaint i personally have is I've had multiple mysterious breakoffs in the middle of a full spool. Try it out. Hope it works out for you.
I had it spooled on my reel because the shop didn't have JBraid8. It did fine on my first trip but I caught small stuff - my biggest fish was a 10-15 lb. AJ. I'm getting pretty anal about this but that's just how I am when I get into something that's new and unfamiliar to me. Are there any other braids I should look into? The consensus seems to be JBraid8. Thanks for your response, brn.
I personally can't stand Jbraid. But that's just me. When we started this years and years ago we literally tested every line we could be our hands on. Some good. Some ok. Most bad. Rays from rayscustomworks has put in many hours sending samples off to be officially tested and has the results on his website. We have settled up on using yo zuri superbraid. We have found it to be one of the thinnest diameter lines while having one of the hugest ABS ratings. I highly recommend it.
Personally, I've had no issues with J-Braid and use it on many of my reels. That being said, I'm also moving toward Yo-Zuri Superbraid for several reasons: capacity, strength and available colors
It seems like I hear or read about people having bad experiences with just about every different manufacturer of braided line. It's kinda funny that way. One thing I have learned, however, is that braid does work very well for many applications. I'm still new to using braid so I ask lots of questions. It's not like mono, where I have more than 50 years of experience using, or fluorocarbon, which I have more than 20 years of experience with.
JH, we've all been where you're at right now. The same thing is going to happen to you that happened to us. With time, trial and error you will find the braids that you prefer for your own reasons.
Right now I use HC braids on all my high end pop/stick set ups because I can 100% splice after break off or cutting out abraded sections and I'm partial to L/L connection/high ABS. Some of my high end jigging set up are spooled with super braid, these are the ones I use at the rigs. All of my inshore set ups, everyday use/loaner for bottom/jigging/lure fishing set ups are all spooled with J Braid 8 now.
The reasons for this are; it's cost effective, it's metered, never had problems with break offs and I like it. I stick with the HC on the high end tuna gear because I want every advantage I can give myself .
Interesting convo going on, let me share my knowledge about the SPJ braids.
First, I used Shimano Ocea PE 2.0 600m, Supper expensive ($200-250)! but gets the job done and reliable, after a while, I trusted the braid enough to go down to PE 1.0 and 1.5 but then started to get a few brakes in the line with bigger catches... which sucks cuz I like to fish with tight drags.. later in time I moved to a bit more affordable braid by Varivas Avani Casting PE was good but didn't have the color change I like in my braid and the diameter was a bit bigger than the Shimano ocea. Today I have completed my search of a braid and found the best braid and price for Slowpitch braided line. The Heraty Rise "Tokayo" or in English "Monster PE" Braided is probably the most affordable and best value for money on the market. The diameter of the Monster PE Line is smaller than the Ocea by 25mm while having a stronger drag test of 3kg.
SHIMANO OCEA EX8 PE2 - Test 36.6LB / 16kg 0.235mm BRAID 300M Average Price: $90-120
Hearty Rise Monster PE2 - Test 41.8LB / 19kg 0.21mm BRAID 300M Average Price: $50-60
You guys are welcome to test out this line and order it from www.oceandevil.com/lines
A fair price for the Shimano and Varivas can be found on eBay.
If what you say is true , send a few spools to benwah22 & B2surf100 for field testing and will find out .
Otherwise hearty rise it's just another braided line in the aftermarket , that it seems you have an interest on promoting it
Your 100% right I do have an interest in promoting HR and not hiding it..., after a long time of field testing of many rods lines and lures I have found a brand that I'm not only happy fishing with myself but would actually like to market and sell. I become an official partner of HR a few months ago. It could have been easier to post on threads as a Joe sublimely promoting but don't believe in that dishonest approach thus sharing my personal opinion and recommendation of the product I believe is of the best quality, value, and cost while providing the item in the most attractive price online... not to mention that I offered all 360tuna.com users a 5% discount on the whole site... was posted in a different thread (coupon code: 360tuna)
Just to clarify HR is not an aftermarket brand, It's a primary brand that is created by the main manufacturing facility out of the Etuoh Corp Taiwan. In 1982, ETUOH established the affiliate Hearty Rise (HR) that specializes in the R&D and manufacturing of fishing rods. ETUOH is responsible for most rods coming out of Asia, You would be surprised to hear that even Temple Reef is manufactured by them
I have been called out before and always love to step up to the challenge.
I'll send a spool to 1-2 members who have a proven record in SPJ and work with fitting gear to the braided line in return of an honest VIDEO review.
Maybe , you want to help this website & become a sponsor so you can benefit from it .
That way you wont be "called out " & prove your brand trustworthy.
Waiting to hear from your HR line testing sent to the SLP gurus.
Till then ......
Without critiquing you’re brand I’d like to test it first on our machines. I would be excited to see how it stands up. Right off the bat is double the diameter of the yo zuri we have been using. 30# yo zuri is .011mm and steadily breaks over 50# ABS

Thanks for reaching out.
Sure! please send me a shipping address in PM and ill send a spool of PE 2 300m.
Yo Zuri #30 is what size in compare to PE diameters? looks more like a PE 0.3 and not a PE 0.2 so if better ill send PE 0.3 let me know...
See attached I have added the Yo Zuri Braided line Test and diameter chart, the 50lb YoZuri line is 0.36mm and 0.11 INCHES AND NOT MM... so for 10mm more you get an extra 3.6kg drag. The #30 Yo Zuri is better to be compared with the Hearty Rise Monster PE 0.3 which has 0.27 mm and a test of 24 kg (52.9109lb)
Which mean 10mm Less and 3lb test stronger.
As can bee is seen were talking about a massive difference in favor of Hearty Rise PE line.
Yo Zuri #30 - Test 50lb 0.36mm
Heart Rise PE 0.3 - Test 53lb 0.27mm
I look forward to your address and to have your support of our Braid being no 1 in the world for slow pitch jigging and most offshore casting.
Hearty Rise Monster PE is X8 braid... also the chart I added for Yo Zuri is X8 Supre braid.
I'm correct in my charts and comparison... no worries you were confused about the Inches it happens... I will still be happy to send samples.
I'm not a in the know slow jigger but I'll order some and try it out as well. Worst thing that can happen is I might be carping about wind knots when I try casting lures with it but I have experience with that so I'm good.
Quick little update. Sorry for the delay. I've received a sample from Daniel and first impressions are the line is a quality product from visual inspection. I'll post up some tied pr knots shortly.
Hey guys! hows everyone doing? Thought to check up on our review here.
Brian any update for the lads and super skeptical unforgiving Thewooha who is so eager to see me rost for unknown reasons.
I hope we can settle this matter and allow this product to get the credit it deserves.
I’ll be home in a few weeks guys. With getting called back to the boat early after coming home from India I’ve been swamped. It’s coming. But i do have the line.
Just to throw little wrench in this thread, I've been using a braid from a company called Hitena.
It also is not cheap but I've been very happy with the stuff. Few interesting notes. I got some 4 lb braid from them for trout fishing and Have been extremely happy with the stuff.
They also carry these little swing ball jigs that are the bomb for trout fishing ( 2G with a #8 hook if anyone is interested)
They also make killer rod building thread. A few other items that are interesting. Hooks.
I've tried their 40 # braid also and I think the stuff is damn good.
I didn't research but I believe it's all Japanese stuff.
Give them a look, very easy to work with. Crazy fast shipping and the owner is always sending me free samples of stuff to try.
(Not affiliated with them in any way Shape or form.friend of mine recommend them after visiting their booth at the RI RISSA show last year) Give them a look, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
