you're completely missing my point. my point isnt that the big e trips suck or anything, its just that doing more overnighters would attract more customers on a more frequent basis. you'd still catch plenty of good tuna. i had a lot of fun on the 52 hour trip and we caught great fish (got their record yellowfin and the boats record warsaw on it)
its tough to get people into tuna fishing by saying youve gotta spend over 2 days on a boat. saying that you're gonna do an overnighter is easier for people new to fishing to do. if you look at the amount of headboats in texas versus up north it pales in comparison. perhaps by opening up these quicker tuna trips - it would fit into more peoples budgets and increase the customer base.
I would agree 100% I think you would see a lot of interest in the 24-36 hour trips thats the way it is up here and slower boats still have to run 85 miles to get them
I have yet to see the overnighters up north catch the size and amount of fish that the Big E does on a 52hr trip.
You cant compare an overnighter to a 52 hour trip, Doug there are many boats that catch great up here the difference is the technique there is no floaters, or no topwater its all chunking and jigging add in sharks and large swords and its still a great fishery

to settle some of the hysteria goin on, nothing has been changed inside of the cabin. All the bunks are still downstairs, the only additions are now there is a really nice full galley inside the back part of the cabin, where the aft bunkroom is, and 2 standup washer and dryers combos. The only cosmetic changes were the overhang was cut back a little,(it covered the livewell in the back, and had the rocket launcher on it) now there is just more casting room in the back. All the dive gear that they are putting on can be taken right back off extremely easy. All the boys are still here and trust us were itchin to get back to takin yall fishin. she is still the same boat, now she just has some extras.
Yea, people get hysterical about things they care about. I think it would help eliminate the "hysteria" and prevent any future flare ups if the operator would keep us (your customers) informed about future trips and immediate plans for the operation so that we would not have to rely on word of mouth and gossip from disgruntled employees.
Do you have any pictures of the new additions to share? Im sure everybody on that has been on the big E would like to see the new additions.

I can't wait to book my next trip!! Thanks for the update.

The Big E does run 30hr trips too, sounds like you will be one of there biggest supporters.
You also need to remember that the owner of the Big E has several crew boats so the fishing boat is not his largest money maker, more like a hobby boat for him.
d-a
FYI The Crew boats are still run by Elliott, they didn't sell their crew boats to Tim just the party boat operation...
I have one question about this dive gear being added and taken off, wouldn't this cause a weight change either an increase or decrease? From what I know that would make the current Certificate of Inspection invalid due to the fact that if the COI was done with the gear off and you add the gear, you would need to have a Stability test done for a new COI in order to know how much this changes the stability of the boat. So how many compression chambers were added and a moon pool?? Just wondering...
The only info i can find is at the top of this page. It says trips will resume in May. Wonder why? Wish that someone from UE would give us some info. Since at good number of their patrons log on here time to time. If it were my boat i would regularly inform the forums to keep customers up to date and keep rumors to a minimum. That's a long time to make boat payments with no trips. I want to book a 56hr. trip for next oct.
