I think it would be pretty easy to tie a overhand knot if you want to , just pull out the spectra , tie the knot and loop it back to its original way

I have had the serving get knicked and cut from the teeth of fish and had to change hooks because I was afraid the ones without knots would come loose. I imagine thats why they are changing it. It may be hard to unravel but cut the serving in the middle, jig it in the water a couple times and then try the strength test. Another option is to epoxy the serving to it doesn't get knicked and start coming off.

They seem like strong hooks and I have quite a few that I still use...I also make my own and prefer a knot on those.

btw, those ebay hooks rust if they just see the water so be careful. The paint on a lot of those jigs chips very easily also.

No problem on the hooks rusting. I have loads of spares. I have seen that those cheap hooks rust faster than some others but I rinse lures after use and so far have not had any of mine get too rusty. Also, the fish do not seem to care about some chips in the paint.

Why not shrink wrap the Raptors? I did it to all mine and didnt take too long. 3/16 shrink tube fits nice and snug. The way I figure it, it may not make them stronger but it probably preserves the serving a while longer and extends the life of the setup.

I got some new 8/0 ones in from Cape May Tackle today. They do not have the rope wrapped around the hook shank.

I looked at the OTI website and it does say the rope is wrapped around the hook shank on the 8/0 and 10/0 sizes.

Those are the old ones, same ones i have and why I was curious as to why OTI moved to the knots...

Bulk purchase assist hooks does not have a knot on all sizes.
Only retail package 8/0 and 10/0 assist hook have knot.
