Yes, it looks stainless steel ferrule. The wall of the blank is pretty thick.

50 lb OTI popping rod introduced itself to some toad Cape Cod bluefin last week.It cast better than I thought it would. I would have thought it was a little heavy for the 2 to 2 1/2 oz we were throwing,but it did well. On the fight it was as good as anything Ive used yet.
