OTI 7' Spinning Rod
There are not too many rods I can just hold in my hands and be 110% impressed with..... BUT! I have found that I can just sit on the couch and play with this rod like it is a new toy!!! It is simply amazing the technology this rod has in it! Its super lightwieght, has enough ass to pull the panties off a nun, and flat out feels like a freakin light saber in my hands!!! Words cant express the quality of this rod!! I cant wait to get the jiggin rods and the new 7.5 footer!! Theres so many products out there, that your choices are unlimited- but I dont want anything else!! These rods ARE the "real deal"!!!
Anyone else liking thier OTI rods???

I just received my 7' OTI popping rod yesterday...(Thanks TJ for the quick service!). I took it out back today and casted a popper....great distance. I still need to change the line on my Stella to 65 lb. solid core JB Spectra. I bet with that combination I will be able to hit any tuna out there!

Skeeter:I am hoping to try out the 7 1/2 footer if Captain Eddie can get back to T.J. in time. We are taking off too early tomorrow to have it shipped to Austin. gimmedeal is in our party and is taking two or three of the shorter rods, including one 7 foot spinner. I have seen these in the parking lot and cannot wait to try them as well. It will be touch and go on the 7 1/2 foot rod, but hopefully we can get it to Venice in time.
gman: You are definitely going straight to Hell for that--without passing go or collecting $200.00. But in that regard, I have to say that back in the late 'sixties, when I was in graduate school at U.T., there was this really drop-dead gorgeous woman in one of my seminars. Now this was in the days when the nuns were just starting to dress more like ordinary women, but you could still tell they were nuns, if you know what I mean--no Paris Hilton strut and strumpet. So how was I to know? This girl looked just like any ordinary sorority chick, and oh my, was she magnificent--like one of those World War II pinups. Anyway, I had to do a paper on Lady Chatterley's Lover and chose to quote some heavily graphic language from the novel. This lady reviewed it in class and the words just dripped from her lips like rich, red wine. I fell in love instantaneously. About 3 months later, I ran into her in the Chuckwagon, wearing her nun's outfit. You can imagine how shocked I was. I am not going to tell anyone what all happened in between, but let's just say that, when you get to Hell, don't be all that surprised if you run into poor old Uncle Russ. I don't think Gunsmoke is old enough to have given me any competition in those days though. For myself, I have been pretty much out of the habit ever since. Cheers, Russ

I agree. Bring on the nuns. Bought all three when OTI got them in and have handled/fished them only a little. I'm heading to Venice this weekend and will fish an overnighter with Eddie on Sunday. These are the only 3 rods I'm taking. Do I feel undergunned in the land of opportunity? Not one bit! I believe I can jig, cast, and light chunk with these and only these. (hmm, maybe a rod for the troll?)
My best fishin partner jigged up a 40 lb jack crevalle on the 300 gram rod and handled it easily, pulling over 20 lbs of drag. I can't wait to put the 600 g rod in a strain. Will report up when we get back. Fred |
