The fastest tuna to come on board was when I just had a yellowfin gaffed. When the tuna hit the deck I got slammed by a flying fish. Right behind the flying fish was a yellowfin about 70 lbs that was still in the air .The YF hit the side of the boat ,fell in the water stunned. The deckhand just reached down and gaffed the fish and hauled the fish on board. This happened on the dolphin.

If tuna are like rattlesnakes....you can just bop 'em on the head and they're out. Pretty good story, John.

A former world record Yft caught on a San Diego long range boat was landed in a couple minutes. It was referred to as a Kamakazi. Probably confused by the lights of the boat and swam right to the boat on the surface. The angler just reeled him right in with virtually no fight. Gaffed by the deckies and weighted something like 340 lbs??? ( don't remember the exact weight). Many more instances of Kamakazies on the long range boats.
