Excellent idea jureal and thanks for posting it!

We've had such a demand for this type and strength of rod we knew we had to offer it.

With airline restrictions, and a lot of anglers now traveling and bringing their own equipment, the two-piece butt joint was the only way.

I can't even get mine until the next shipment comes in January!!!

you definately dont want a one piece rod that is 7'6", the modern technology used on these new powerful rods will surprise you. All the higher end casting rods are 2 piece now a days for travel purposes AND once you really push the two together its really hard to seperate them i always leave a little space so i can get them out again. They have so much backbone you wont believe it.

Especially with the new airline restrictions in place you can use a shorter rod tube and be perfecto

The other day I posted about, traveling with a less than 7" rod tube.
Well leaving Kuwait City on the 8th' I was at the air port @ 6am for a 9 am flight. British air had no prob with the tube but I had to go to Civil avation police for inspection. Routing was Kuwait , London Herthow, Chicago, Houston. Flying bizz Class with priority tags on bags, The Tube did not make
Chicago for customs clearance, causing missed connection and a extra night
in Chicago hotel for me, the airline payed for the room at the Windom, and the tube was routed London , Miami , Houston . And delivered to the house 48 hrs later at 11pm.
Not bad for me as this was a return flight.
But has made me think about shipping advance frieght "insured" for rods
When you need them on hand to fish.

Minnow,

I was wondering if it was possible to use the same butt section with two different top halves, a 50 and an 80. The idea being to take less gear when traveling, while still having a choice of which rod to use. That 80lb rod really does look awesome!

Glad these rods are finally out, they'll be the top choice for popper fishing in the GOM! Can't wait to try my 50 out!

Nice bend, TJ. I knew the 80 lbs popping rod has plenty of power as I landed 70 - 80 lbs yft in 5 minutes even I used it for bait fishing.

Tom,
You can not use the same butt section with two different top haves as both rods have different diameters.
