is that a new wrap design on the rods, it looks different. Put a dogfight on that rod and it would look insane

Yes it's, we also changed the top size to size 12 and smaller fore grip.

I agree with you on Daiwa DF6500, it will be a perfect match.

What is the weight of the rod? What holds the two piece together? Friction?

Yes, it is the standard type of ferrule used on many rods. I like the ferrule being down close to the handle.

i've never been a huge fan of 2-piece rods. is there a 1-piece available in this length?

2 piece makes for a better travel rod. If you want a 2 piece, use a bit of epoxy on the ferrule and you have a 1 piece rod.
