One thing about that anchor line on the Big E, during the day if you are over a rock, you'll be anchored and bottom fishing, you'll be fishing for Groupers or BIG AJ. By the time you get them up off the bottom they won't be in any mood to swim in big circles at the surface, they'll just come up! The scope on the anchor line will keep it pretty far up away from the fish. I've seen the deckhands help anglers with moving the rod and reel over and under the anchor line before too. Pretty easy with small fish.

At night when you are drifting, you won't have the anchor line in the way, but you will have to make sure you stick your rod out enough to miss the anchor itself! I've lost several YF on that anchor when people have accidentally blocked the light and I couldn't see my line.

Btw, no guesses on them old goats? C'mon guys!

Russ it wont disppoint

Everything you have posted about this week is on thse DVD's

The rod handling by deck hands on the excel is just purely amazing. Grabbing 80W outfits with one hand and wrapping and unwrapping around anchor lines is insane but they do it without breaking a sweat. They actually wrap the butt section of their rods for better handling. The kite & balloon blowups are fun to watch

You will see Basil Pappas of BHP Tackle fishing on Big Fish, Big Boat II

Deep Color I and II are my favorite long range videos! Watching them hook up a couple of backup rigs to a 50W and throwing it in the drink is something! These videos were before the advent of Spectra, so they are especially interesting. If I ever get the chance, I'll look for the newer videos.

I hate fighting fish on the bow of the Big E. The pulpit has a stanchion and a step that make manuvering a royal PITA. I've lost more YFT on the bow of the Big E over the last few years than everywhere else on the boat combined (and none through a cut or broken line).

It's just tough to apply pressure and properly fight a fish up there, and I think the fish know it..........

Looks like Willie wins an empty bottle of Deep Sea Rum for being the first to correctly identify Gres and Scott.

I see Kil has the rod under his right arm. Can anyone tell which arm Grescobia has it under? Looks like it could be either one.

I'm pretty sure it is under his right arm.

love to fish the bow .usually the crowd is in the back. I can cast in two directions.I feel I can cover more water ,however the fish seem to be caught in more abundace in the stern .
