my 2 cents

I try not to use trebel hooks and re-rig with single swash hooks. Trebels tend to come loose too often

Go with Owner's Stinger Trebles ST-66TN 4X 4/0 or 3/0. You want to try a few with single hooks also, although, once on a open BFT bite I lost several
fish using siwash hooks.

What you're targeting anyway? Just curious. Good luck.

I fish Rhode Island all season long for tuna and shark. Obviously you are targeting tuna while jigging although all other species are a bonus. For the tuna you can go two ways rig them with the owner trebels or single hooks. From my experiences with trebels they tend to work themselves off fish where a single hook penetrates and holds remeber thats just my 2 cents.

To be honest everyone uses diamond jigs so I have stopped using them and have converted to knife jigs such as OTI's, butterflys and Abysss speed jigs. I try to seperate myself from the pack by doing this although it is a personal preference and is condusive to your jigging style either japanese or conventional.

Either way enjoy your trip and ake sure to post your report, what boat are you going on. If you are ever in need a split charter i have a great capatin i fish with about 10 times a year up off newport

thanks, im going out of point judith with the frances fleet, its on a boat called the lady frances 105' not to bad for $400, IMO anyway. i have never used the knife style jigs but am going to try it this year i will be ordering a few oti jigs and i usually only use the diamond jigs just because i have them and they have worked for me in the past, what im trying to do this year is land a tuna on a spro jig like a 6oz ive never heard of anyone doing this so i figured what the hel right ? lol

sounds good ill keep that kin mind since i personaly have never gotten a shark or for that matter a 100 pound plus tuna which i hope to do this year.

The TNK,

If everything goes well I may see you there this fall during the tuna season as I might be changing boats and working with the FF.
As far as tuna jigging I like trebles on all my stuff. I use owner st66 4/0 or 5/0 However with diamond jigs (get the hammered variety btw) I like a single hook as i think it affects the action of the jigs. I have seen siwash hooks open up too many times to mess around. Get yourself some 12/0 gamakatsu 4x strong live bait hooks and use it with a split ring instead of a siwash.
