Hey Tom - That's usually the option I take as well But I need at least SOME gear for this jigging stuff This weekend is pretty much dedicated to picking up some new gear and maybe meeting some folks on this great board!

I've seen some of your threads where some people come back with broken rods after fighting with BIG grouper or AJ's. That is the only way a rod SHOULD break That, I really don't mind!

More rods are broken on land by bending rods with their hands than on the water.

Ouch that sucks. Were the rods being "tested" by hand or were people just being stupid?

Not my rods! All the rods I've ever owned have either never been damaged or have been damaged by fish (i.e. fish took a fast run and I ended up scraping the tip guide on the boat, jetty, pier, etc and it would cut my line constantly as soon as I hooked a fish from there on).... could not figure out for the life of what it was

What a proper way of calibrating your drag setting
