Duel purpose rod..

Alright I need a rod for a soon to be mine Torque 200. I wanting somewhat of a duel purpose rod that I can jig with and throw poppers. The tricky part is finding one that is a non custom 7fter. All of my Sea Magics are are 5'6" or 6' and my OTI i bought from FTU is 5'6" A 7' rod, for this particular set up is almost crucial, a 6'6" would work but would make my life complicated. I need the longer rod in order to be able to swing the rod around the bow of my kayak. Main target is going to be tuna via a mother ship. Any suggestions that doesn't 100% break the bank?

I have a few of the Sea Magic Tuna Hunter Specials that I've never jigged with, besides weight, do you see any reason why these couldn't be used for jigging rods also? I really like the Sea Magic Rods as Chris at Islanders Custom Tackle has always taken very good care of me.

Chk with Chris . besides the oti 7ftr that just caught a big grouper in the above post Sea Magic is coming out with a 7ft Dragon Fly rod in either 2pc or 1pc . Chris had the prototype with him at the Fred Hall show out on the west coast. Not sure on avail with conventional reel but worth a call

How about a Calstar GF700M, GF700MH or GF700H? They're only $250 to $290, plus they are pretty indestructable (good for yak fishing) and have quite the pedigree for popping and jigging.

I think I am remembering correctly that one of the posters on this board, a man named Kil, said he has jigged with a 700H in the past--although that certainly would not be his first choice from what I have read. He is an expert at jigging and I think popping as well and perhaps could weigh in with his opinion on that rod. I have one but have not used it in my very limited jigging so far.

Duel purpose rod

Look at the 700 H, I've used it for jigs and poppers.
