I have removed the treble's on 5"-6" poppers that are through wired with 6/0 assist hooks early in the season (April -June when the flying fish are small) with good results and know several others that have as well. I have also replaced the treble's on Tuna Hunters with 7/0 Mustads with poor hookup results.
