I have to agree with the comment that congratulated the skipper on boat handling. Not saying it wasn't on a drifting party boat. On the other hand, maybe you could set your drag to say, 20 pounds with 60 pound PP and stop the run before you were spooled without chasing the fish. On the other hand, doesn't the 10,000 hold considerably less line than the 20,000? I know you could get 500 yards of 60 pound on the 20K spool, but I would think considerably less on the 10K. Also, it didn't seem to matter much that the gear ratio was pretty low compared to the 20K. Or do I have that wrong again?

Another interesting question (may have been answered--I didn't read all 5 plus pages of the thread) but I wonder if the Yo-Zuri was stock.

Russ

We discussed the subject on the other site already.
He said it is 71" long and check how big a 71" tuna is.
Here is true 300 lbs tuna and compare the fish with this.

The tuna claimed as 300 lbs yft

295 lbs yft

The 10000 is a 6:1 ratio compared to the 20K 4:1, the reel holds less line, and if that yo-zuri was stock, i'll take 20

That's what I was thinking. I've heard somewhere that the lower gear ratio helps you pump them in, but I figure that isn't necessarily so with a spinner.

the lower gear will help, but you still need to use the rod. the lower gear does not turn the reel into a winch
