No issues so far with the retaining clip. It is under the drag adjustment knob which keeps it in place during usage. I assume that the retaining clips only function when the spool is not mounted onto the reel with the knob in place.

She did not know why but she sent me 4 washers instead of the 3.... no extra costs. When I went to install them, I found that the washers were thicker than the stock.... the od and id was correct but the extra thickness made it impossible to get the four washers in under the spring retainer clip. I just used all four washers anyways and moved the retainer clip up into the next slot up. Of course, the retainer clip needed to be openned up a bit so that it would not just lay there. For now it works but my thoughts are that Dawn removed the washers from the web site due to the problem with the thickness. Just a thought.

Hi ,

To be able to put 4 stacks , order the carbontex drag washer in 0.6 mm thick .

Jon .

Thanks guys, I emailed Dawn and let her know the situation. She has already mailed me some drags to try out and will let you guys know when I get them what I end up doing.

Whats the difference between having a 3 stack drag opt to 4 stack drag system?

Alan - I am guessing the OD of the drag is 25mm as sportfisherman has fit that size in his Stella.

I'm not an engineer but the 3 stack has 25% less surface area than the 4 stack so I would think the usable drag would decrease at the same ratio.

I told Dawn to send me some of the drags you recommended Jon so I can try to run 4 stack.

The drags came in today, first I did 3 stack and it had a little too much play in the drag stack so I did the 4 stack. I did have to move the retainer up. Haven't had the chance to test the drags to make sure everything is smooth and nothing is binding yet but just by turning the spool by hand with a bit of drag applied it feels good good.
