Calcutta 400TE & 300TE
this is a great site that has a full breakdown of how to take apart your 400TE, clean it, and put it all back together.
I just used to clean mine, and it was great calfishing.com - Calcutta TE Maintenance Guide

i do have one problem with the reel, after i put it back together, there's a clicking noise when i turn the handle. i think it may have something to do with the anti-reverse, but I'm not sure.
I tried taking it apart and putting it all back together, but the noise is still there. any ideas? I also want to put the carbontex kit in, how much drag will I be able to get out of the reel?

check the position of the anti-reverse dog. it may not be properly grasping the anti-reverse ratchet gear. i don't know what the new drag range will be. i typically fish mine at about 5#'s with no problems. alan

the anti-reverse is engaging, and you were talking about these two parts? right?
http://www.calfishing.com/files/Imag...e/figure_9.jpg http://www.calfishing.com/files/Imag.../figure_10.jpg I'm going to take the reel apart to inspect it, and see if that can fix the problem also, what grease do you use on the internals, aside from the cal's on the drag?

those are the ones. on occasion, i will find the dog crushed down by the ratchet gear. and if you have cal's grease, go ahead and use it on anything needed. it will work just fine. please keep us posted. alan

the dog won't stay engaged on the rachet gear. everytime i put it on and then close the reel, it makes a buzzing noise when i turn the handle.
how do i make it stay on/stop making noise?

the "teeth" of this dog have to be pinched together so that it will grip the ratched gear and then engage when the ratched gear moves backwards. but i want to check, are you sure this is the problem and that the dog is loose?

the dog is engaging, just rattling against the gear when the handle is turned.
it all works, it just makes an annoying noise, which it wasn't making before i took it apart to clean out all the salt the last guy had let into it. i can actually hear the dog rattling when i shake the reel
