Super Seeker CTSF55XXXH |
I just received my new Super Seeker CTSF55XXXH rated 80 (100) 130 made by Seadog Rods. I'm home alone or I would have taken some lift test pictures. Let me just say that I need to bring home some more weights. I will follow up lift pictures in a few days. I'll probably have "Rodbuster" help me with the test. I will stop him before rod failure occurs.
I fished with some custom rods using the Winthrop guides last summer. After using them on a few marlin, I don't think there is any comparison to the proven Aftco big foots. They are expensive, but worth the extra money for the long haul. You can place a pencil through every guide including the tip. The pencil will even fit between the rod blank under the guide. You would have to be the world's worst knot maker to make a knot that wouldn't pass through these guides. The Winthrop's are machined out of a solid block of aluminum. The ball bearing rollers are machined to fit perfect inside the machined guide. There is absolutely zero play. No wobble what so ever. I don't see any way you could fray the line. Then, you have the hottest blank on the market. The Super Seeker line of rods is raising eyebrows throughout the fishing industry. The rod is topped off with a black/gold Aftco unibutt. A shrink wrap was used over the hypalon grip. Very nice. Thanks, Kevin. Once again you've outdone yourself. Excellent job. We'll be doing more rods very soon. Here's some pictures of the rod. Some will have a pencil placed into the guides to give you an idea of the guide size. |

I'm sorry I could never meet up with you to test that new stick.
I've heard those Super Seekers are awesome sticks. "Bone" just got back from a week at Los Suenos in Costa Rica. He told me they were on a boat that used nothing but super seekers and Platinum 30's. They caught 64 Sails and 8 marlin in four days of fishing. He also said prices on charters are double what they were three years ago. 60 footer was 2400 a day plus tip. They don't call me "Rodbuster" for nothing. I'd love to snap that beast on a fish. From looking at the pictures, that 50W won't have enough drag for a good break. Let's mount a 130 on it and really give it the test. Hope everything is getting better. I know you have a lot on your plate right now. |

It's probably all wrong to take a quote from yourself but to bad. I've busted a lot of rods in my day. This weekend I witnessed the rod in this thread get bent more than any other rod I have ever seen without snapping. I witnessed a guy wearing a belt and hooked up to a harness bend this thing almost 180 degrees. When you make a bet, people will go to extremes to get the money. I saw with my own eyes an angler that probably weights around 250 pounds, sit in the harness/belt until his arse was only 6 inches from the deck numerous times. His hands were on top of the reel, pushing down on the spool to produce more drag than the reel could produce. It was amazing that the rod didn't shatter into little pieces. The weakest link was the 130 pound wind-on leader that I can't believe didn't pop. Congrat's to the guy who made this rod. You just made someone's wallet a little thicker. I'll have to admit that after the time limit was getting close I thought I had won the bet. When I saw the determination and low squats with major thumbing of the spool , I ran for the first aid kit. Those last three minutes were very exciting for me and everybody on board. I was almost sure someone was going to end up hurt. I will gladly go to the bank in the morning and cash a check. It was worth the show.
