He guys, Andre from JigStar Africa here....
The JigStars are definitely not built on JM blanks, but on their own blanks, which have been designed and developed by ChrisW and John "Kojak" Goffin in New Zealand.
The new series, the 2010 KOJAK Customs, are a futher development of the original 2009 Mark I series.
The rods are certainly similar in action to the JM's, in that they are parabolic in action, and have similar detailing, but are a completely different blank, adn build.
Kojak is a master at getting the most out of a blank, and redsigning and refining a blank, to get the most out of it... extensive testing and building and rebuilding on the 2010 models has resluted in an absolutely superb range of Jigging rods, the 250, 350 and 450 gram JigStar Kojak Customs.
The new improivements on the Mark II's are:
1 - Additonal and strengthened wrapping on all guides.
2 - Additional Guides from the 2009 models, 9 guides for the 250 and 350 models, and 8 for the 450, up from 7 on the previous models.
3 - Different colour binding and blank colours for the 3 weights, Red, Blue and a duty gold
4 - ALPS Anodised Reel Seats - Matched colours to bindings
5 - Unique Grooved Foregrip
6 - Lighter Balancer in the Split rear grip.
These Rods have accounted for some incredible fish here in SOuth Africa, notably Yellowfin to 82 kilos in the Canyons, Dogtooth Tuna in the 60 kilo Class on the 350, and recently some solid GT's to 35 kilos on the 250 gram, and Doggies in the 40 kilo class, also on the 250.
JigStar brings top quality perfromance and build, with some unique features, at a price thats more available and attainable to more anglers...
Currently only available in Overhead Models, Chris and Kojak are working on the SPinning versions... only once Kojak is 100% happy with his spinning versions will they be released... I for one can't wait!
You can check them out on our site.
Drop me a pm PM if you have any questions Anthony.
Cheers
