Calstar 700H

Submited By CClassic28 CClassic28 is offline
Looking for a tuna jigging/ bottom fish jigging rod. Someone had mentioned a 700H as a good choice. Any thoughts? Looking to mount a Torque 300 on it & have about 18-20# drag when tuna fishing.

Thanks in advance

I have the new Accurate spinning rod replaces the 700H. It's lighter and 3 inches shorter. Will fish it on the Big E this weeked, weather providing. I will use 20-25 lbs drag. I am getting the same casting distance I have with 7-7.5 ft rods.

Yeah, Paul. I figure that pasting that Accurate logo on the 700H and XH is kind of like pasting a Ferrari emblem on a Jeep--it don't go no faster but it's worth double.

I have both the H and XH. In my opinion the H is not designed for the drag pressures you are discussing. The XH will be much better for the job. One other stick to look at for those drag pressure would be a Super Seeker 7 foot in the XH designation. I had one built for bigger fish and higher drags using SIC guides last year and that rod is off the hook. Not has much tip action as The Cal Star XH but has way more back bone and can handle bigger fish. I also like my Graphiter 700XH as a bait stick paired with my Accurate 12 Twin spin for stealth bait bites. Not sure yet what I am going to pair my new Accurate 20 Twin spin with but I will once again test everything out there.

ALW - did you ever try out your new Accurate spinning rod?

Also, I too am wondering what would be a better rod for my 665 2spd. 700H or 700XH
