yep, that's big! (I'm 5' 11", 170#...... )
Honestly, just figure out what your primary use for the setup is
then go find a rod you like to match it out
Obviously, OTI makes a great rod for this
as well as SeaMajic, Seeker, Calstar....
tight lines, bigun

5'6" is a more stout (600gram) rod. go with it for the AVET LX... the OTI brand rods are out of this world! you will really like the way they feel in your hands, and how nice they fish.

Avet LX

I have a Trinidad 40 for jigging. I like the infinate "super stopper" anti reverse that prevents the annoying back and forth rotation of the spool. Does the avet have this problem? Also, I recently saw a post about a guy adding after market anti backlash magnets to the LX to cast poppers (I dislike spinners). How does the LX cast?

the lx casts fine. just needs an educated thumb or you will be spending a lot of time picking birdnests out of your spectre.

I put aftermarker magnets in my MXL and it casts great, makes it more castable if you dont have a great thumb and doesnt take away much distance.

I HAVE A JX_ 2 speed. I really like it. BE CAREFUL and watch the strike lever. IT can move into freespool if you are clumbsy. HELLof alot of power torque and top drag as ever needed. TRY the hoo, and compare the improvement at the strike lever settings. TNE HOO has a little click in ball that helps it stay at the strike, full setting when handing the rod or if you bump it or untangle it etc. I lost more than one fish but not latley. I just force myself to be cool calm and collected and keep the "OTHERS" the heck away from me !!! until after I'm at color, then we can be equals. Until that time its all about the fish and me !! whack em in the head with one swift geff swing. HOO_HA !!!

I bought the LX 6/3 and put it on a Shimano jigging rod the reel is the best I have ever owned I love it the rod is not that great especially since I got a LX6/3 narrow last month on an OTI 600gm rod. The only thing I had problems with is at Tequila last month we tied off for the night and I lost at lest 6 jig to the rig. I should have stopped after the first one but the bite was so good I had to try and get one to the boat. Stubborn I am. I am looking at the new HOO for close into the rigs more drag to keep them out of the rigs.
