Evergreen OPUS 1 Spinning Reel

Has anyone ever fished a OPUS 1 spinning reel by Evergreen?

It was the winner of JAPANS prestigious PRODUCT DESIGN AWARD and GOOD DESIGN AWARD. It is designed for saltwater fishing. The reel comes in an aluminum case with spare spool and tools. It's a rather small reel about the size of a Stella 3000. It's also expensive if you can find one in the US. $750-$900.

line capacities: 8 LB/ 170 m, 10 LB / 150 m, 12 LB / 120m
Max Drag : 3 KG
weight : 260 grams

TJ: When STX and Deepblue talk about the 7 1/2 foot 50 pound rod, is that the slower of the two prototypes you sent us for testing?

Minnow is fishing but I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. The 7.5' rod pink trim rings, high frame surf guides and slim foregrip is a 80# stick. The other 7.5' rod in standard OTI trim (gold & black colors and beefy foregrip) is the 50# stick.

Kevin is correct, but they are both proto's right now.

About the spinning reel, TJ has seen a new Stella model that is set for now in Asia only.

It is supposed to be a 10000 and 20000 size, but because of its construction & materials, will only weigh as much as the current 8000.

No pics were allowed and the specs were pretty well protected, but as soon as we can get more info, we'll be sure to post it.

I bought it several days ago thru ebay and it is high quality reel ever I have seen. It is good for trout, bass, panfish and experience people can use it for salmon and steelhead fishing(smaller size). I always use light tackle for any kind of fishing. It is expensive and they just made an aluminium box and two small cases, but I think it can be put in one small case too.
